OUR MOTTO
Hatching Ideas, Nurturing Lives, Sustainable Futures
WHAT WE DO
Nest was conceived and built with the dream of creating a space for young people to contribute their skills and potential towards the development of their own communities. As such, Nest works on a community-based model where local issues and challenges are engaged and addressed by local youth themselves.
Nest considers its Call to Action to engage youth resources in addressing the needs of society with or without resources. Nest identifies and engages in voluntary projects on a self-support basis to address social issues or problems in need of intervention.
Nest also works with the support of well-wishers, donors, government, and non-government organisations for projects aligned with its vision and mission.
OUR FOCUS AREAS
# ACTION RESEARCH
We believe that research plays a pivotal role in our development approach. Community-based studies and research are an essential component in our effort towards sustainable development. Nest believes that the North-eastern region is a vast social laboratory for social sciences research, and that it is imperative to engage in a community-centric understanding of the region to design and bring about sustainable development.
# MENTAL HEALTH ACTION
The Lamka Suicide Survey is the first independent Action Research Project undertaken by Nest. The survey captures the high and alarming incidences of suicide deaths in Lamka town, where the objective is to generate awareness about mental health and, most importantly, gain a deeper understanding of the problem so that Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Action initiatives can be better designed based on contextualised needs.
# COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Nest believes in community-centred development model where community stakeholders can participate and contribute to the process of their own development. Nest also believes in the involvement and leadership of young people in the development process of the community where future leaders and stakeholders can learn, contribute, and participate in the process of shaping their own future with a sense of ownership and responsibility.
