Community Development

Nest believes in community centred development model where community stakeholders can participate and contribute in the process of their own development. Nest also believes in the involvement and leadership of young people in the development process of the community where future leaders and stakeholders can learn, contribute and participate in the process of shaping their own future with a sense of ownership and responsibility.

Nest is currently involved in the following community development initiatives:

1. Livelihood

Springshed based watershed development program under NABARD

With the support NABARD Nest is engage in a climate action and livelihood development initiative in six villages of Churachandpur district where it attempts to rejuvenate and revive spring-water sources in the hills which will bolster rural agro-based products, impacting on livelihood and environment.

SHG- Promoting women empowerment and economic upliftment

Nest believes that women play an important role in the development of the community. Women centred groups and organisations have been highly prevalent in Lamka making a huge impact in the socio-economic development of women, and the community at large.

2. SDG Campaign

Popularise and promoting sustainable development goals

Community development initiatives through a civil society organisation and community based organisations has been an intrinsic component in the social fabric of the ethnic communities in Lamka. This similar spirit of humanitarianism has been at the core of sustainable development, linked and driven towards a common vision across the globe. Nest is dedicated towards linking these development initiatives with the sustainable development goals so that such community initiatives can contribute and linked with the global vision for sustainable. Nest is therefore engaged in linking and popularising the language and matrix of SDGs as a means of organisation growth and development.

3. Nest Humanitarian Support

As a Humanitarian organisation, Nest is dedicated towards creating a platform for community participation and contribution towards humanitarian crisis and disaster situations.

Nest has taken up initiative to support and rehabilitate victims of such mental and physical humanitarian crisis by creating space for support through crowd funding and community support.

Some of the initiatives under taken through this program includes:

  1. Nest Mental Health Action.
  2. Nest Education Program for children in relief centres.
  3. Health Interventions and relief materials distribution in relief centres.
  • First aid kits – 112 pkts.
  • Blankets – 360 pcs.
  • Gift hampers – 14000 Individuals to be reached.
  • Diapers – 15000pcs.
  • Sanitary pads – 6384pcs.
  • Food supplements – 1664pcs.
  • Dry ration – 150 Bags of Rice, Dal & Potatoes worth5 Lacs.
  • Health camps – 94 Relief Centres.
  • Thermo flask – 200pcs across 27 Relief Centres.
